Primary & Secondary Conveyor Belt Cleaners

TUFFLEX Conveyor Belt Cleaners provide effective carryback control for heavy-duty belt conveyor systems in mining, quarrying, cement, coal handling, aggregate processing and mineral processing plants.

The product range covers Primary Belt Cleaners / Pre-Cleaners, Secondary Belt Cleaners, Tertiary Belt Cleaners, Polyurethane Scraper Blades, Tungsten Carbide Cleaner Blades and V-Plow Belt Cleaners.

Multi-Stage Conveyor Belt Cleaning

No single cleaner configuration is ideal for every conveyor.

Material characteristics, moisture, belt speed, pulley diameter and operating environment determine how aggressively the belt must be cleaned.

For heavy mining applications, a combination of primary and secondary cleaners provides an effective approach to carryback control.

Primary Belt Cleaner / Pre-Cleaner

A Primary Belt Cleaner is normally installed around the head pulley, where the belt is supported against the cleaning force.

Its primary purpose is to remove the majority of bulk material immediately after discharge.

Wear-resistant polyurethane is commonly selected for primary cleaner blades because its elasticity allows effective belt contact while providing resistance against abrasion and impact.

Secondary Belt Cleaner

A Secondary Belt Cleaner is positioned after the primary cleaner to remove fine material remaining on the belt.

Secondary systems may use Polyurethane Scraper Blades, Tungsten Carbide Belt Cleaner Blades or composite cleaning elements depending on the material and belt condition.

For highly abrasive ore and fine carryback, carbide cleaning edges provide excellent wear resistance.

Tertiary Belt Cleaner

A tertiary cleaning stage can be installed where a particularly clean return belt is required.

This configuration is suitable for enclosed plants, sensitive transfer points and conveyors where remaining carryback creates significant maintenance problems.
