Belt Cleaning for Harsh Mining Conditions

Mining conveyor systems operate under conditions that can include abrasive ore, impact loading, moisture, dust and long operating hours.

When discharged material remains attached to the belt, this carryback can be transported into the return conveyor system and accumulate around idlers, pulleys, frames and working areas.

A heavy-duty Conveyor Belt Scraper removes this residual material near the discharge pulley and helps keep the return side cleaner.

Primary Cleaners for Bulk Carryback

The Primary Belt Cleaner / Pre-Cleaner provides the first cleaning stage and is normally positioned against the belt around the head pulley.

Polyurethane is widely suited to this application because the blade must combine wear resistance with sufficient flexibility to maintain belt contact.

TUFFLEX Polyurethane Belt Cleaner Blades can be produced in different hardness grades, widths and profiles according to the material and conveyor.

Secondary Cleaners for Fine Material

After primary cleaning, a thin layer of fines may remain attached to the belt.

A Secondary Belt Cleaner provides additional cleaning after the belt leaves the head pulley.

For highly abrasive applications, Tungsten Carbide Belt Cleaner Blades can provide a durable cleaning edge. PU-supported and segmented structures can also allow individual blade sections to respond to belt variations.

V-Plow Belt Cleaner

Material falling onto the inside surface of the return belt can be carried toward the tail pulley.

A V-Plow Belt Cleaner or diagonal plow diverts this material away from the belt before it reaches the pulley.

This provides an additional protection measure for tail-pulley areas in mines, quarries and bulk-material handling systems.

Segmented Scraper Design

Segmented cleaning blades provide multiple independent contact points across the conveyor belt.

This configuration is particularly useful where the belt surface is not perfectly uniform or where localized wear occurs.

Individual segments can be replaced separately, simplifying maintenance and reducing unnecessary replacement of the entire cleaning edge.
