Centrifugal Gold Concentrator for Fine Gold Recovery

Product Overview

Our Centrifugal Gold Concentrator is a high-efficiency gravity separation machine designed to recover free gold and other high-density valuable minerals from mineral slurries. By combining a high-speed rotating bowl with centrifugal force and controlled fluidization water, the machine significantly strengthens the density-based separation process compared with conventional gravity equipment.

Unlike conventional sluice boxes and other gravity separators that mainly rely on gravitational settling, a centrifugal gravity concentrator creates an enhanced gravity field inside the rotating bowl. Heavy particles such as liberated gold are forced toward the recovery zone, while lighter gangue particles are carried away with the slurry and discharged as tailings.

This operating principle makes the machine particularly suitable for fine gold recovery, where conventional gravity equipment may have difficulty recovering small liberated particles. Research on modern gravity concentration also confirms that centrifugal concentrators have become an important technology for fine-grained gold recovery in grinding and gravity circuits.

Our equipment can be supplied in different configurations according to feed capacity, particle size, gold characteristics and process requirements, making it suitable for both standalone recovery systems and integration into complete mineral processing plants.

Working Principle

The feed slurry enters the rotating bowl and is subjected to a strong centrifugal field. Because gold and other valuable heavy minerals have significantly higher density than quartz, clay and other lighter gangue, they migrate toward the retention zone under centrifugal force.

At the same time, controlled fluidization water is introduced through the bowl. The water helps maintain a loose mineral bed inside the recovery zone, allowing heavy particles to penetrate and remain concentrated while lighter particles are washed toward the tailings outlet.

During operation:

  1. Slurry Feeding – Ground or screened ore slurry enters the rotating bowl.
  2. Centrifugal Separation – High centrifugal force accelerates the separation of heavy and light particles.
  3. Fluidized Bed Formation – Back-pressure water keeps the concentrate bed loose and prevents excessive compaction.
  4. Gold Retention – Free gold and other heavy minerals are retained in the recovery zone.
  5. Tailings Discharge – Lighter gangue particles leave the bowl with the process water.
  6. Concentrate Collection – Depending on the configuration, the concentrate is periodically or continuously discharged.

This principle is similar to the operating concept used by major enhanced-gravity technologies, including Knelson-type and Falcon-style centrifugal concentrators. However, actual recovery performance depends on ore mineralogy, gold liberation, particle-size distribution, feed density and operating conditions.

Main Applications

1. Placer Gold & Alluvial Gold Recovery

For placer gold recovery equipment and alluvial mining plants, the centrifugal concentrator can be installed after a trommel screen, vibrating screen or scrubber to recover fine gold that may otherwise escape from conventional sluice systems.

It is especially useful when the feed contains a mixture of coarse gold, fine gold, black sand and other heavy minerals. A typical circuit can combine screening, centrifugal concentration, sluice recovery and final concentrate cleaning.

2. Hard Rock Gold Processing

In hard rock gold plants, the machine can be incorporated into the grinding circuit to recover liberated gravity-recoverable gold at an early stage.

Typical feed sources may include cyclone underflow, ball mill discharge or a controlled portion of the grinding circuit. Early recovery can reduce the amount of free gold entering downstream processes and provide a high-grade gravity concentrate for intensive treatment.

Centrifugal gravity concentration is widely used in grinding circuits where gravity-recoverable gold is present.

3. Fine Gold Recovery

The equipment is designed for applications requiring enhanced recovery of fine liberated gold. Compared with conventional gravity equipment, the high-G environment increases the settling force acting on dense particles.

For this reason, it can be considered when a plant needs a fine gold recovery machine or fine gold recovery equipment for material containing fine free gold.

Actual recovery of ultrafine or flaky gold should always be confirmed through laboratory or pilot testing, because particle shape, liberation and feed mineralogy strongly influence centrifugal separation performance.

4. Gold Tailings Reprocessing

Old gravity tailings, sluice tailings and selected plant streams may contain recoverable fine gold. A centrifugal concentrator can be used as a scavenging unit to recover valuable heavy minerals from these streams.

This makes the machine suitable for black sand gold recovery, tailings retreatment and upgrading of existing gravity circuits.

5. Gravity Circuit & Concentrate Upgrading

The concentrator can also be used to pre-concentrate valuable minerals before downstream treatment. Depending on the flowsheet, it can work together with trommel screens, vibrating screens, hydrocyclones, ball mills, sluice boxes, shaking tables and other gravity separation equipment.

For plants comparing different enhanced-gravity technologies, both semi-batch centrifugal concentrators and continuous centrifugal concentrators are available, with the appropriate configuration selected according to throughput and concentrate-discharge requirements.

Why Choose a Centrifugal Gold Concentrator?

High-G Gravity Separation
Enhanced centrifugal force increases the effective separation force acting on dense particles and is particularly valuable for fine-grained gold recovery.

Fluidized Recovery Zone
Controlled fluidization water helps maintain a loose recovery bed and reduces the interference of lighter particles in the concentrate zone.

Chemical-Free Gravity Recovery
The basic concentration process relies on physical density separation rather than chemical reagents, making it suitable for gravity recovery stages before further processing.

Flexible Process Integration
The machine can be installed in alluvial gold plants, hard rock gold plants, grinding circuits and tailings recovery systems.

Compact Equipment Footprint
Compared with many conventional gravity circuits, centrifugal concentration can provide a compact method for treating selected high-value streams.

Suitable for Different Gold Particle Sizes
Operating parameters can be adjusted according to feed characteristics, while actual recovery should be established through representative testing.

Knelson-Type / Falcon-Style Alternative

For international buyers searching for a Knelson style centrifugal concentrator, Knelson type gold concentrator, Falcon gravity concentrator alternative or Sepro style centrifugal concentrator, our centrifugal gravity concentrators provide an alternative equipment solution based on enhanced gravity separation and fluidized-bed concentration principles.

The correct machine should not be selected by name alone. Feed grade, gold liberation, particle-size distribution, pulp density, throughput and required concentrate quality should all be considered before equipment selection. Technical literature also shows that different centrifugal concentrator designs can perform differently depending on the feed characteristics and application.

For this reason, we recommend providing your ore information before quotation so that the appropriate model and operating configuration can be proposed.
