Why Use Polyurethane Skirting at Conveyor Transfer Points?

Transfer points are among the most demanding areas of a belt conveyor. Material falling from a chute creates impact, turbulence and pressure inside the loading zone. Without effective sealing, fine particles and bulk material can escape through gaps between the skirt board and moving belt.

Excessive skirt pressure can increase friction, generate heat and accelerate conveyor belt edge wear.

HUATAO Low Friction PU Skirting can be manufactured in belt-friendly hardness grades to balance sealing performance, flexibility and wear resistance.

Rather than relying on excessive pressure against the belt, the skirting should maintain controlled contact with a stable belt surface. Correct installation helps reduce drag while maintaining effective containment.

Typical polyurethane hardness can be selected from approximately 60–90 Shore A, with softer grades commonly recommended where flexibility and belt protection are priorities.

Dual Seal Polyurethane Skirting

For applications with severe dust or fine-material leakage, HUATAO offers Dual Seal Polyurethane Skirting and double sealing profiles.

The primary sealing section helps contain bulk material near the skirtboard, while the flexible secondary sealing lip provides additional protection against escaping fines and dust.
